Integral part of every electronic banking system is its security mechanisms aimed at ensuring confidentiality, integrity and reliability of transferred and processed data.

Data used within such systems are subject to trade and banking confidentiality, protection of personal data, or they are subject to other relevant provisions and standards currently effective in the Slovak Republic. Therefore, it is necessary to protect them from loss, disclosure, destruction or abuse.

Protective measures in the system of internet banking are created by combining authentication (PID, PIN) and security measures (GRID card, Token).
Authentication features clearly identify the bank's clients, and allow them to start communication with the Internet Banking system. Security features provide for advanced protection of sensitive information (e.g., payment orders), transferred between the client and their banks. Another important aspect of Internet Banking security consists in the fact that communication between clients and their bank is encrypted.
